How to add PIP in Windows Movie Maker
Picture in Picture(PIP)is to put your image/video as the overlay on top of another one. PIP is an effect, usually used to superimpose some smaller videos on the main video, so that you can display two or more video contents on the screen at the same time. In Windows Movie Maker you can add unlimited PIP tracks to enhance your movie with videoes or pictures.
Step1: Add PIP track
Click "Add Track" button at the bottom left side of timeline, select "Add Picture in Picture (PIP) Track".
Step2: Add media to PIP track
Drag the video clip from the media library to the PIP track.
Step3: Set PIP's size and postion
Double-Click the video clip at the PIP track or click the setting icon on the menu, and it will active the PIP editor at the top.
In the editor you can set your clip's size and position.
You can choose the position of the overlay by clicking PIP Layout. Several positions are as follows:
PIP Center, 1/2 Top, 1/2 Bottom, 1/2 Left, 1/2 Right, 1/4 Bottom Left, 1/4 Bottom Right, 1/4 Top Left, 1/4 Top Right
Keep the ratio of your images so that it doesn't get distorted when zooming in and out.
Drag the picture to any angles when you put the mouse on the green dot at the top of the picture.
You can input any angles between -360°-360°. Up and down arrows can adjust angles slightly.
Click "counterclockwise" and "clockwise" icon to rotate left and right 90.
The last two icons respectively show the horizontal flip and vertical flip.
Step4: Set PIP's motion
You can animate the position of the PIP clip with motion mode.
Click the "Set Motion" icon at the middle menu bar.
Double-click the motion styles to preview the effect on the right side.
In the preview viewer, you can adjust the position of the PIP clip.
The default duration is 3 seconds, and you change with it.
Right-click and select the applying effect you want.
Motion list
